Greg Norman’s allegations that Sir Nick Faldo made “nasty” comments regarding his position with LIV Golf have been refuted. In order to show respect for the ongoing Masters, the six-time major winner had promised to wait to respond.

Greg Norman’s claims that Sir Nick Faldo made “nasty” comments regarding his position with LIV Golf have been refuted. The six-time major winner had promised to respect the ongoing Masters by delaying his comment.

Faldo, who won in Georgia in 1989 and 1990 before winning a third title in 1996, is part of that select club. However, prior to this year’s tournament, Faldo, who was working as a pundit for Sky Sports last week, was the target of some harsh charges.

Norman, the legendary Australian who faced Faldo on the course in the 1990s and finished second to him at Augusta in 1996, began his assault at the start of April.

Faldo was called “entitled” and “nasty” by former LIV CEO Norman, and the English legend has finally delivered on his promise with a calm and well-written response.

“Nick said some things about me during my time at LIV, some really nasty things. I don’t have any respect for someone who gives their opinion on something in that sort of manner when they don’t know both sides,” Norman stated in an interview with The Telegraph.

“Come on, we have a history, he could have called me and asked for the other side of the story, and I’d have gladly given it. And if he still hadn’t agreed then fine – his opinion and as he knows the facts, he would have been entitled to say anything he likes. Happy days. But just to sound off? Like I said, no respect for him.”

In response to these allegations, Faldo’s management firm has released a thorough dossier that contains images of text messages he exchanged with Norman in December 2020 and November 2022.

According to the records, Faldo apparently declined Norman’s invitation to appear on his show to talk about LIV and other golf-related topics.

There was also a supposed text exchange from 2020 in which Faldo wished Norman well after he was admitted to the hospital with COVID.

The communications pertaining to a potential interview with Norman appear to show Faldo reassuring him that the show wouldn’t be only about LIV and that he didn’t intend to ambush his former rival—he just wanted him to express his opinions.

Faldo’s declaration concluded: “Given the passage of time and the changes that have since taken place within the game of golf, Sir Nick does not consider that discussion a relevant one to reopen. Accordingly, no further comment will be made.”
