- According to a recent source, Leeds United is preparing a £6 million bid to acquire a “complete” defender who is also desired by Premier League team Everton.
Transfer preparations for Leeds are starting to take shape.
Now that the Whites’ Championship season is over, all attention will be on the upcoming campaign and their summer plans to increase their chances of remaining in the Premier League. Although the transfer market hasn’t opened yet, the Yorkshire team is already being connected to a number of players in an attempt to bolster their roster.
Leeds appears to be focused on finding a new striker because they don’t want to depend solely on Joel Piroe for the upcoming campaign. After leaving Leicester City, Jamie Vardy becomes a free agent this summer, and the Whites are reportedly among several teams interested in signing him.
Meanwhile, Leeds have also held internal talks about signing Troy Parrott from AZ Alkmaar after his impressive season in Dutch football. However, this could be a costly purchase for the Championship winners, as he could cost as much as £20 million.
Leeds is now willing to activate Moussa Djenepo’s £1.7 million release clause, making him another forward the Whites are interested in signing. Djenepo is currently on loan from Standard Liege to Antalyaspor in Turkey, but he has no intention of making the move permanent, so Leeds could easily sign him.
Before Everton, Leeds is preparing a £6 million bid to get a “complete” defense.
But Daniel Farke isn’t just looking for strikers this summer; according to Scouts in Attendance on X, Leeds is now prepared to pay £6 million to recruit Georgios Vagiannidis, a right-back for Panathinaikos.
Leeds officials will be present this weekend to witness Vagiannidis play for Panathinaikos against rivals Olympiakos, according to reporting from Greek media. It continues by saying that Leeds is prepared to make a bid of 8–10 million euros, or about £6–8 million, even though they will be scouting his performance.
Everton reportedly put out their offer to sign Vagiannidis over the weekend, indicating that the Whites are not the only team vying for the full-back. Leeds will, however, hope that their return to the Premier League puts them in a competitive position to recruit the defender.
Scout/writer Jacek Kulig has called the 23-year-old a “complete” defender. He has spent the majority of his career at Panathinaikos, with the exception of a brief stint with Inter between 2020 and 2021, during which he was loaned to Sint-Truiden rather than playing for the Italian powerhouse.
With a possible move to Leeds, Vagiannidis would compete for the right-back position alongside Jayden Bogle.
