As the winger gets ready to join rivals Arsenal, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca claims Noni Madueke made the decision to quit the team.
Madueke has been authorized to depart Chelsea’s Club World Cup camp in the United States in order to complete a move to Arsenal for an initial £48.5 million plus £3.5 million in add-ons, according to Sky Sports News.
Maresca clarified that the 23-year-old has not been forced out of the team when asked how he feels about the news as his team gets ready for the Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain.
“Noni is in contact with the new club and I guess he is going to be [announced] in the next hours,” stated Maresca.
“Offering him to an opponent? For the club and the manager, it is challenging when players wish to go.
“Noni chose to depart. Noni was not told he had to go. We are delighted when he is happy.
