BREAKING NEWS : Football Association charges Mykhailo Mudryk, a winger for Chelsea, with anti-doping offenses………..

Due to a positive drug test result for the banned substance meldonium, Mykhailo Mudryk was placed on provisional FA suspension in December 2024. According to FA regulations, Mudryk could be banned for up to four years. Mudryk described his failed drug test as “a complete shock.”

Mudryk, who played for Ukraine in Albania and Georgia in November 2024, tested positive for the illegal drug meldonium, which was administered overseas while he was not on Chelsea duty.

“In accordance with Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA’s Anti-Doping Regulations, we can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance,” an FA spokeswoman stated. We are unable to speak further at this time due to the continuing nature of the matter.”

According to FA regulations, Mudryk might be banned for up to four years.

In a statement in December, Mudryk stated his failed drug test was “a complete shock” and said he had “not done anything wrong”.

On Wednesday, the attorney for Mudryk stated: “Mr. Mudryk’s position remains as set out in his December statement and he shall not be commenting further at this time owing to the confidentiality of the process.”

The 23-year-old said he “has never knowingly used any banned substances” when Chelsea began their own probe in December.

Nothing in his diet is believed to have altered since he passed a UK Anti-Doping test in August, therefore Mudryk believes his sample was tainted.

Instead of being permitted to train at Cobham, Mudryk has been following a personal training regimen at home. He was not a member of the travelling group, despite being seen in a Chelsea bodywarmer during his personal trip to the Conference League final in Poland.

The Ukraine international last appeared for Chelsea in a 2-0 Conference League victory over German team Heidenheim on November 28. He was acquired from Shakhtar Donetsk for £88.5 million in January 2023.

Before a formal charge is decided, a player must be notified of a positive test and placed on provisional suspension, per FA regulations.
