Leeds United’s previous Premier League stay demonstrated their ability to succeed, cause upsets, and—above all—avoid relegation back to the Championship.
Between 2020 and 2023, the Whites played in the top level for three seasons, finishing ninth in their first season back after a 16-year break.
With 17 goals in the league during this run, striker Patrick Bamford had the best season of his career and was called up to the England national team for the first time.
The 31-year-old, who failed to score a goal in any competition in 2024–2025, is unlikely to have the same impact under Daniel Farke this time around.
To succeed, escape relegation, and prevent an instant return to England’s second division, the team will require further reinforcements in the final third.
Leeds’ recent hunt for a new striker
In order to strengthen their roster and increase their chances of surviving, Leeds must find the appropriate players before the new season begins, which is less than two months away.
Josh Sargent is a name that has come up in recent days; given his record of 15 goals in 32 games this season, the American international may cost about £17 million.
If Football Insider’s most recent report is to be believed, Rodrigo Muniz, a Fulham talisman, is also on their shortlist, so he’s not the only player on it.
The Brazilian international scored eight goals in his 31 league games, just eight of which came from the start, and Farke’s team is reportedly planning an opening offer for him.
It further says that because of his Premier League experience, the 24-year-old is viewed as a great option for the Whites this summer, however it’s unclear how much the Cottagers would want to sign him.
Why Beto wouldn’t be a better fit for Leeds’ newest
Beto of Everton is another player on their list of individuals they have named as possible options in their quest to strengthen the offensive department this summer.
It has been stated in recent days that the Whites are still very interested in the £30 million Guinea-Bissau talisman until the summer of 2023.
Farke’s team is eager to try to sign the 27-year-old forward, but it’s still uncertain if David Moyes’ team would be willing to let him go.
Similar to Muniz, he possesses the top division experience that the hierarchy seeks in the off-season, but it’s reasonable to say they shouldn’t pursue a move for the former Udinese player.
In several crucial areas, he has fallen short of the Fulham star’s 2024–25 numbers, making the Brazilian the player the hierarchy needs to target this summer.
Despite having the same number of goals, Muniz has managed a higher minute per goal ratio, demonstrating his clinical edge in attacking situations. Teammate Willian Borges has called him “one of the best strikers in the Premier League.”
In the final third, he has also completed more passes and registered more passes, giving the other attackers around him the chance to increase their own totals.
Farke has an all-around option in the final third as they try to ensure their survival thanks to the Brazilian’s domination, which continues to grow as they win more aerial duels and earn more fouls.
In order to give themselves the best opportunity of keeping their top-flight position, the hierarchy must find the ideal player in their search for a new talisman.
A move for Muniz must be the top priority in the upcoming weeks, and given how costly players have become in the Premier League, big money will probably be spent.
