Leeds must make major roster improvements if they are to stay in the Premier League the next season, and one position that needs to be addressed during the next transfer window is goalkeeper.
This summer, Leeds officials need to replace Illan Meslier since they can no longer rely on him. In addition to Nick Pope and Angus Gunn, there have been indications of additional names being involved.
Aaron Ramsdale is a summer transfer target for Leeds.
Caoimhin Kelleher, Sam Johnstone, and Aaron Ramsdale are on Leeds’ goalkeeper shopping list ahead of the summer transfer market opening on Sunday, according to the Daily Mail (via TBR Football). Of the three, Ramsdale would be the most eye-catching addition.
Ramsdale had previously disclosed that at one Elland Road game, Leeds fans had thrown coins at him. The Yorkshire-born 27-year-old talked about this in an interview with former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster in 2022.
Ramsdale is anticipated to leave St. Mary’s in 2025, although he signed a £18 million contract with Southampton last summer from Arsenal. His relegation release clause is currently in effect, and several teams are reportedly interested in retaining him in the Premier League. One of those teams is Aston Villa, who are anticipated to be searching for a new goalkeeper during the summer season because Emi Martinez is slated to leave.
Ramsdale might be a solid addition to Leeds, but he might not be the most well-liked player among the fans due to this incident as well as the fact that he was relegated from the Premier League three times (with Southampton, Sheffield United, and Bournemouth).
