While Fabrizio Romano revealed in his GIVEMESPORT transfer newsletter that the Sporting star will ‘evaluate his options’ over his next club in the coming days, Manchester United and Arsenal will be anxiously awaiting their possible striker search in the upcoming weeks.
The Swedish striker has been playing well for the Portuguese champions all season long. His late penalty against Benfica, a rival team from Lisbon, forced extra time and ultimately led the team to win both the league and the cup last week on goal differential. United and Arsenal are now vying for his services because of his remarkable 54 goals in 52 games for the team.
Romano: Gyokeres will make a decision regarding Manchester United vs. Arsenal “soon.”
In the summer window, the Sporting star is anticipated to relocate.
Given the intense interest from Europe, particularly England, in the striker’s departure this summer, it is not surprising, but United and Arsenal both require him for comparable reasons.
Ruben Amorim will try to address United’s goal-scoring problems right away as the season draws to a close. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have only scored a combined seven goals in the Premier League, which is a pitiful total for a team of their caliber.
In contrast, the Gunners have struggled in the second half of the season without Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, using Mikel Merino as an additional forward. However, their lack of goals meant that second place wasn’t technically confirmed until the very last day.
In an update, Romano also disclosed that Gyokeres will be speaking with his representatives in the coming days and that it “will be time” to make a decision within the next week or two before deciding on his next course of action. The author wrote:
He’s going to talk to his agents and weigh all of his choices over the next few days. Soon, a decision will need to be made.”
In any league, a striker who scores 39 goals in 33 games is impressive, but at age 26, a player in a top league like the Primeira Liga is particularly well-regarded.
The Premier League rivals will wait to see where Gyokeres goes next, but United’s inability to qualify for European football will have some impact. He could change his ways in England.
