After making a bid for Bayer Leverkusen striker Jeremie Frimpong, Liverpool is now expected to focus on pursuing a deal for Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez, according to Caught Offside.
The Reds have work to do this summer to refresh their options in the full-back areas amid the departure of academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid as a free agent. They earmarked one of the best right-backs in the world in Frimpong as their ideal replacement. Liverpool triggered his €35 million (£29 million) release clause, and the Dutchman is set to put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Anfield.
The opposing flank still has to be strengthened, therefore Arne Slot and his group are likely to look to the transfer market for a new left-back.
According to the Caught Offside report, Kerkez is Liverpool’s “next top target” following Frimpong, and the Merseyside team is anticipated to pursue their interest shortly.
According to reports, the Reds do not consider Bournemouth’s demand for their left-back, which is around £45 million, to be a significant problem. Although Liverpool thinks they can recover some of the money by selling Kostas Tsimikas, it would make Kerkez one of the most expensive players in his position in history.
Andy Robertson, 31, has exhibited signs of inconsistent form during the 2024–25 season, and Slot is keen to find a long-term successor. Kerkez, who has been called “world-class” for his performances, is among the Premier League’s top full-backs this season and would probably fit right in with Liverpool’s new defensive scheme.
According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Liverpool is leading the fight for Kerkez despite interest from teams like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid. However, they have not yet reached a transfer agreement.
