BREAKING NEWS : Liverpool is “advancing” their pursuit of long-term Man United target Jeremie Frimpong, according to Fabrizio Romano………

Liverpool is “advancing in talks” to sign the Bayer Leverkusen player, therefore Manchester United will not be able to make a move for him, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Since “Going Dutch” had dominated United’s hiring strategy under former manager Erik ten Hag, Frimpong, 24, has been linked to a move to Old Trafford for a considerable amount of time.

A versatile football player, the Netherlands international can play left back, right wing back, right back, or even as a traditional winger if necessary.

Frimpong was a target for United as a way to improve Ten Hag’s right-back position. However, under Xabi Alonso, the 24-year-old has unquestionably played at right wing-back, which is the exact position Ruben Amorim is looking to deploy with United.

Last season, Alonso, who was just announced as Real Madrid’s new manager this summer, accomplished a remarkable accomplishment by leading Die Werkself to a league and cup double without dropping a single match.

Frimpong’s powerful combination of speed and talent provided a steady outlet on the right-hand side, making him a vital member of this record-breaking squad. In a display of his versatility, the Dutchman helped Leverkusen retain one of the greatest defensive records in Europe while returning an outstanding 14 goals and 12 assists from wing-back.

Frimpong has scored five goals and supplied twelve assists this season, although neither he nor his club have reached the heights of their previous year. Even though he is supposedly a defender, this would still make him one of United’s most effective attackers.

And because Frimpong seems to be a perfect fit for the right wing-back position in Amorim’s system, it was thought that these wing-back performances were what rekindled the Red Devils’ interest in him.

Given that the 24-year-old’s contract has a €35 million (£29.5 million) release clause, a trade would be both reasonable and easy for United to initiate.

Although Frimpong is “keen on joining Liverpool,” Romano claims that the club’s fierce rival in the North West has gotten ahead of them by “advancing” their pursuit of the flying Dutchman.

Tweet: “After contacts revealed last week, Liverpool is moving forward with their signing of Jeremie Frimpong. Recognize that #LFC spoke with Bayer Leverkusen about the arrangement of the €35 million release clause. Frimpong is eager to join Liverpool, and player-side negotiations are also in progress.

Frimpong’s height and physical attributes have been the sole criticism directed at him. He is 5’6” and has a light build, which makes this possible weakness much worse. German football is also a physically tough sport, but speed and endurance are valued more than height and strength.

Even if placed further forward, the Premier League could be a challenge for an undersized fullback. Perhaps for this reason, Amorim, who has consistently emphasized the importance of improving his team’s physical floor, has chosen not to pursue Frimpong in favor of a target like Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo.
